It operates across six sites, Heidelberg (HQ), Barcelona, Cambridge, Grenoble, Hamburg and Rome. Our mission is to perform basic research in molecular biology; train scientists, students and visitors at all levels; offer vital services to scientists in the public and private sectors within the member states; develop new instruments and methods; and engage actively in technology transfer.
The External Training team of the EMBL International Centre for Advanced Training (EICAT) is looking for a laboratory technician for its training laboratories and the computer training room.
Advanced Training is one of the five core missions of EMBL. The postholder will be part of the EMBL International Centre for Advanced Training (EICAT). Responsibilities include the organisational and logistic preparation of the training laboratories and equipment for practical training courses spanning various life science disciplines, as well as the organisational supervision and coordination of the computer training room.

The applicant should also have sufficient computational skills to support and coordinate the computer training room. The successful candidate should have effective organisational skills and the ability to handle work in an efficient, independent and timely manner. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, initiative and a problem-solving attitude are required. The applicants should be able to adapt techniques from the literature to the lab and should enjoy learning new methods. A broad knowledge of standard molecular biology methods and standard computer skills are required. Fluently spoken English is essential.
