This position is part of the NERC-funded project “Adaptive introgression in the Anthropocene”, the main aim of which is to understand the prevalence and impact of gene flow between native and non-native flowering plant species in the British Isles making use of newly generated genome assemblies and large whole genome resequence datasets.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
We are looking for a person with advanced bioinformatics skills, including high levels of competency in genome analysis using data from high-throughput sequencing and population genomics.
- A PhD in a relevant area
- Enthusiasm to understand evolutionary change and its implications in the Anthropocene
- Strong bioinformatics skills, particularly for the analysis of genomic data (Illumina and other high-throughput sequencing platforms)
- Experience of carrying out population genomic analyses
- Comfortable with using R and Python, working on Linux, and using high performance compute clusters
