Greifswald, Germany

We offer a position for a PostDoc within the division Stellarator Heating, Plasma Diagnostics and Optimization (E3) to develop a generative AI framework to predict power load patterns on plasma-facing components of the W7-X, providing a novel solution to enable more efficient and safer plasma control strategies through data enrichment. This framework will utilise various data sources including diagnostic data, existing infrared images and planned magnetic configurations. Join us in this exciting endeavour at the forefront of fusion research.

Your tasks

  • Develop generative AI models for thermography images at W7-X
  • Optimize real-time plasma control algorithms
  • evaluation and processing of data from experiments in connection with infrared thermography
  • Supervision of master/practica students

Your profile/Our requirements

  • Completed studies and a doctorate in the field of computer vision, machine learning or physics
  • professional experience in development of machine learning algorithms
