Post-doctoral Fellow: Gut Microbiome and Bioinformatics

The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work on cutting-edge bioinformatics methods in relation to the gut microbiome. The applicant will provide computational support to ongoing projects and have the opportunity to pursue their own research interests. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will participate in an exciting bed-to-bench-to-bed translational research program involving synthetic gut microbial communities, patient cohorts, and international collaborations within the ‘Nutrition, Microbiome and Immunity’ group led by Prof. Mahesh S. Desai.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research project with sufficient guidance, yet enough independence to design and execute the experiments;
- Participate in multi-disciplinary research projects that will potentially open job opportunities in both academia and industry;
- Carry out microbial bioinformatic data analysis of samples from mice and patient cohorts;
- Further enhance key methodologies in microbiome and bioinformatics;
- Develop scientific methodology and techniques adapted to the research project;
- Present research work in leading international conferences.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- PhD degree in bioinformatics or a related inter-disciplinary field;
- High level of motivation for research, attention to detail, scientific creativity, and writing skills;
- Languages skills: fluent in English;
- Proficiency in machine learning and large omics data analysis is preferred.
