Postdoc in Alzheimer’s Disease Using Cutting Edge Genomic Approaches

Postdoc in Alzheimer’s Disease Using Cutting Edge Genomic Approaches

VIB

Leuven, Belgium

Description

The Laboratory for the Research of Neurodegenerative Diseases headed by prof. Bart De Strooper is a vibrant environment where key issues related to Alzheimer’s disease are tackled. We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated postdoc to join our multidisciplinary project on the cellular response to Alzheimer’s pathology (De Strooper and Karran, Cell, 2016).

We have used spatial transcriptomics (Chen and Lu, Cell, 2020) to investigate why some people remain protected against Alzheimer’s Disease despite the presence of amyloid plaques. Understanding resilience to Alzheimer’s disease will help us to identify new drug targets. We are looking for an expert postdoc to validate these targets using cutting edge Perturb-seq and other approaches.

The success!ful candidate will closely collaborate on discovery biology, interpretation and identification of novel drug targets, together with the wider team of biologists and bioinformaticians. The successful candidate will be responsible for the target mining and validation. This project is funded by an industrial project in collaboration with a biotech start-up.
