About the department

The research group of Eugene Kim at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics, focused on the structure and dynamics of chromosomes, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) to study Structural Maintenance of Chromosome (SMC) complexes using in vitro single-molecule biophysical methods. The candidate will analyze the structural and dynamic properties of SMC complexes using TIRF-based single-molecule imaging and beyond. A dynamic, enthusiastic, and international team of biophysicists and biochemists will await the candidate, ready to tackle exciting problems related to genome organization and maintenance collaboratively.

Your profile

We are seeking for

  • An outstanding experimentalist with research background in biophysics, physics, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field of science;
  • Prior experience in programming (Python) for data analysis and/or controlling hardware is highly desirable;
  • Prior experience in fluorescence imaging is desirable but not required;
  • A creative and independent individual with a strong interest in motor proteins and genome maintenance.o Proficiency in English (both speaking and writing).
