Vegetation/landscape ecology, ecosystem restoration, resource protection and nature conservation
Research activity:
The scientist conducts research projects and teaching in vegetation and restoration ecology. The research and teaching should be located in the field of tension between humans and the environment as well as in nature conservation and environmental protection. Projects are carried out in interdisciplinary and international teams.
The working group Interdisciplinary Landscape Ecology & Ecosystem Restoration deals with the vegetation ecological analysis of habitats or land use types, practical ecosystem restoration in all areas, environmental and resource protection and strategies of sustainable land use in a global context. Thematic foci of the research group are theoretical concepts of landscape and renaturation ecology, practical approaches to ecosystem restoration and conservation, agroforestry systems in Europe and beyond, the acquisition and analysis of traditional ecological knowledge, the tension between environment and health, and sustainable urban development. The researcher will participate in ongoing research projects of the research group in the field of renaturation, vegetation and landscape ecology and the sustainable use of ecosystems. He/she is expected to actively participate in the acquisition of external funding, publish internationally at the highest scientific level, contributes to scientific networks at an international level and to present and disseminate present research results at national and especially international conferences.
Requirements for admission:
- For participating in the selection procedure candidates must possess the following qualification: PhD or equivalent foreign study title in the following or a neighboring field: Landscape ecology, vegetation ecology, restoration ecology, environmental sciences;
- The following persons cannot participate in the selection procedure:
- university professors of the first and second rank and researchers employed with open-ended contract, even if ceased from service;
- those having had contracts in quality of holder of research grants and of fixed-term researcher according to Art. 22 and 24 of the law no. 240/2010 by the University or other public, not public or telematic Italian Universities, and bodies provided by paragraph 1 of Art. 22 of the law no. 240/2010 for a period that, added to the duration provided by the contract of the call, exceeds altogether 12 years, also not consecutive. For the duration of the mentioned relationships the periods of absence for maternity or for health reasons as provided by law in force are not taken into consideration;
- relative or relative by marriage up to the fourth degree, with a professor of the Department making the proposal of the activation of the contract, with the Rector, the Director or with a member of the University Council of the University.
- All above mentioned requirements must be held on the date of expiry of the term set for the presentation of the application for participation in the selection procedure;
- The Commission of selection, for the sole purpose of the aims of the present selection procedure, will evaluate the equipollence of the candidate’s qualification title conferred abroad;
- The administration, after independent evaluation, reserves the right not to admit candidates who have been convicted of criminal offences under Article 85, first paragraph, letter a) as per D.P.R. No. 3 of 10.01.1957.
