Postdoctoral Position Ecology of Infections

Position

  • You will conduct research in the framework of the project “RESTOREID: Restoring ecosystems to stop the threat of (re)-emerging infectious diseases”;
  • Your research role within the project is participating in fieldwork in Belgium, Tanzania and DRCongo, molecular analysis of environmental samples, and data analysis;
  • You will publish scientific papers related to the research project;
  • In collaboration with partners, you will coordinate the development of a knowledge exchange platform and a digital support tool;
  • You will interact with the other researchers in the project and the international collaborators and assist in the supervision of PhD students in the project;
  • You will participate in the coordination and management of the project, including events organization;
  • You will participate in the provision of academic services: you will represent the research group both internally and externally, help to coordinate service projects, and so on.

Profile

  • You hold a PhD in the field of Ecology or similar;
  • You have a solid background in biodiversity studies and/or ecology of infections;
  • You have a good basic knowledge of biodiversity conservation/restoration;
  • Having e-DNA experience is a strong advantage;
  • You have experience in project management and coordination;
  • You enjoy working in an international team;
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies;
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision;
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation;
  • You can speak and write fluently in English.
