You would like to contribute to a rational and environmentally friendly energy supply? Work in an international environment, do research on exciting and innovative processes and work on applications and implementation?
Then the DLR Institute for Future Fuels, which works on technologies and processes for sustainable energy supply for industry and mobility, is an attractive employer for you.
Industrial processes and the transport sector in particular are still predominantly based on fossil fuels. Innovative concepts are required here to increase the share of renewable energy sources. Our institute researches processes that enable the production of fuels and other chemical commodities by means of renewable energy sources and resources. One focus is on the use of solar heat and power, which is made available by means of concentrating solar technologies. Temperatures of over 1000 °C can be reached with these solar thermal systems, which allows a large number of energy-intensive applications. In such a way these processes can be driven sustainably.
An important part of the work is the research and testing of new processes and technologies in the laboratory as well as on a pilot scale. For this purpose, the scientists of the institute use modern infrastructure, e.g. a high-flux solar simulator and a solar tower facility. The integration of appropriate measurement technologies and sensors, as well as the connection of data acquisition systems and control strategies for the processes are part of our work.
You will work in a team with colleagues within the institute as well as with national and international partners. You will design experimental plants for various processes, work out the use of measurement technologies, design control systems and connect hardware and software. You are comprehensively involved in the planning, construction, commissioning, operation and evaluation of experiments.
