The Photonic Nanomaterials Research Line at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is looking for one Post-doctoral scientist to carry out synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials and implementation of light-emitting devices. The successful candidate will work in the Photonic Nanomaterials research line within the Nanomaterials research domain, in the framework of the European Research Council Starting Grant “NANOLED, Toward Single Colloidal Nanocrystal Light-Emitting Diodes” (Grant Agreement n. 851794). The final aim of the project is to fabricate a novel light-emitting diode based on a single semiconductor nanocrystal, thus obtaining an electrically driven single-photon source.
The selected candidate will synthesize colloidal perovskite and metal chalcogenide semiconductor nanocrystals, and implement them in light-emitting diodes with support from other team members. In addition to research duties, the candidate is expected to contribute to the supervision of PhD students hired within the project framework and engage in collaborations with other peers from the Functional Nanosystems and Nanochemistry groups.
Eligible applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or related fields. Previous experience in synthesis of colloidal nanocrystals and fabrication of optoelectronic devices will be considered an advantage and it is strongly recommended. Excellent English communication skills, creativity and independent thinking are mandatory. Selected candidate will join Dr. Francesco Di Stasio and his research team located in IIT Central Research Laboratories, Genoa.
