A Postdoctoral position is available in the area of Neuroscience and Brain Technology of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Genoa, Italy. The research activities will be performed within the “Local Micro-environment and Brain Development” Research Line led by Dr. Laura Cancedda.
Our goal is to understand the molecular determinants of neuronal circuit development in health and disease with a combination of in vivo and in vitro approaches (Deidda et al., Nature Neuroscience, 2015; Deidda et al., Nature Medicine, 2015; Szczurkowska et al., Brain., 2018). In particular, this fellowship is funded by the European Research Council (ERC), Grant agreement n° 725563, and the candidate will investigate the molecular basis of Down syndrome with a particular focus on new therapeutic approaches based on CRISPR-Cas9 Technology and on the development of translational approaches for in vivo gene delivery.
The ideal applicant has experience in molecular biology & biochemistry. Moreover, he/she is willing to learn new experimental biology techniques (in vivo electroporation, sonoporation, confocal microscopy). Candidates from life/natural sciences, medicine, pharmacy, bioengineering with experience in neurobiology are encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to have a strong research track record and to be highly independent. IIT hosts interactive groups in neurophysiology, cellular/molecular neurobiology, neurotechnologies and behavioural neuroscience, and it provides state-of-the-art facilities in microscopy, electronics, molecular/cell biology and mouse genetics.
