At the Institute of Applied Physics of the Faculty of Physics at TU Wien, the position of a University Professor (m_f) in the field of “Advanced Material Interfaces and Heterostructures” with permanent full-time contractual employment is to be filled as of October 2023.
This is a professorship regulated by § 98 of the 2002 Universities Act (UG).
The position has been allocated in TU Wien’s development plan to the following TU Wien Focal Area of Research: Materials and Matter.
We are looking for an internationally leading experimentalist working on the realization, manipulation and characterization of advanced materials heterostructures and interfaces. Possible topics of research may include, but are not limited to thin film growth of complex materials, 2D materials, van-der-Waals and in-plane heterostructures, twisted systems, topological materials, and novel properties emergent at the solid-solid interface. In particular, we are interested in searching for someone preparing atomically-precise novel materials using growth methods (e.g., MBE-, PLD-, CVD-, PVD-based synthesis), or someone who is interested in understanding the physics of such systems using photon-, electron-, or ion-based characterization or modification techniques.
