The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a Senior Technician of High-Throughput Technologies to work in the Genomics Core Facility, a state-of-the-art research support unit dedicated to providing leading-edge next-generation-sequencing services in the areas of the genome, transcriptome, and epigenome profiling, both in bulk tissues and single cells, with a strong emphasis on single-cell multi-omics, large-scale genome sequencing projects and multiplexing of genomic assays.

They will report to the Senior Manager of High Throughput Sequencing and Operations of the Genomics Core Facility and will have the following key tasks and responsibilities:

• Handle sample and library preparation, including through automation-intensive workstations;
• Manage data collection and evaluation support, including the implementation of a LIMS for data and sample tracking;
• Handle next-generation sequencing data, including data processing, sequence mapping, collection, storage of data and metadata and preparation of sequencing-related files;
• Support in the development and implementation of SOPs and/or pipelines;
• Manage the day-to-day access to the facility by new internal users;
• Provide introduction, training and assistance to new users of the facility;
• Participate in key aspects of general Facility management and organization (e.g., managing inventories and stocks of samples, reagents, equipment, and materials);
• Communicate regularly with experimental laboratories on the flow and timeline of sequencing projects;
• Liaise with the facility of Computational Genomics to export data in pipeline-ready formats;
• Participate in implementation of sequencing technologies and platforms as sequencing technology progresses.

Job requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant subject, e.g., molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or in a related field of the life sciences;
• Excellent technical and working knowledge of multiple genomic technologies (+5 years of hands-on experience), including documented experience in preparation of libraries for the main bulk and single cell sequencing technologies (eg. Illumina, 10x Genomics);
• Experience with single molecule sequencing technologies is a plus;
• Good working knowledge of bioinformatics tools to handle, store and prepare files from genomics data;
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, proactive attitude to solve problems and ability to work to deadlines;
• Fluency in English – HT is an international research institute;
• Proven communication, team building, and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent organizational, communication skills and work ethic;
• Ability to independently develop, optimize and deploy research support, as a member of a closely collaborative team.
