Duties

The Senior Lecturer will work with development of the Department’s research in the subject area, environmental monitoring and assessment programs and education. Specific tasks for the Senior Lecturer will be to:

  • develop and lead the teaching of Mathematical Statistics at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral levels, as well as supervise doctoral students,
  • carry out statistical consultation within the Department as well as at other departments at the Faculty of Forest Sciences and SLU,
  • contribute to the development of the subject area of Mathematical Statistics, and regularly publish scientific articles and participate in scientific conferences,
  • develop and maintain national and international networks of researchers, industry and society,
  • actively seek external funding for research.

Qualifications

The applicant shall:

  • have obtained the degree of PhD in Mathematical Statistics, Statistics, or the equivalent,
  • have strong skills in research in Mathematical Statistics, Statistics, or related subjects,,
  • have teaching proficiency and completed training in teaching in higher education corresponding to a minimum 10 weeks of studies, or have acquired the corresponding skills in some other way,
  • have good knowledge in Swedish and English.

Assessment criteria

  • Assessment for the appointment will be based on the degree to which the candidate possesses the skills to qualify for the position.
  • The assessment of scientific skills will take into account:
  • quality and quantity of completed and ongoing research
  • the ability to independently initiate and conduct innovative research
  • the ability to conduct research together with experts from other subject areas
  • skills in raising research funds

The assessment of pedagogic skills will take into account:

  • pedagogic vision, including how the vision has been implemented
  • experience in planning, carrying out and evaluating teaching activities
  • experience in supervisions and examination on Master and PhD level
  • the ability to integrate pedagogy and science

The assessment also take into account skills in or ability to:

  • develop and lead activities and staff at university
  • communicate and cooperate
  • collaborating with stakeholders in society
  • effective dissemination of research findings to stakeholders
  • providing consultation

Strong skills in AI, machine learning, regression analysis, variance analysis, time series analysis and experimental design is a merit, as well as skills and experience in forestry-related research.
