Postdoctoral Researcher - Boundary Element Methods for Propeller Hydrodynamics

Aalborg University

Copenhagen, Denmark

In this position, you will take a leading role in developing and implementing novel computational models within a boundary element framework, coupling the BEM with models for flow separation, viscous drag and cavitation. There is room to shape both the project direction and your own research profile. The project involves a collaboration with the propeller specialist Everllence.

Relevant competencies

  • Boundary Element Method, Finite Element Method, potential flow theory and Green's function formulations;
  • Conformal mapping, in particular Schwarz–Christoffel transformations;
  • Viscous-inviscid interaction and integral boundary layer methods (Kármán momentum integral method);
  • Numerical methods for partial differential equations;
  • Iterative solvers for linear systems;
  • Fluent programming in Python and/or C++;
  • Experience with open-source scientific programming frameworks, such as PETSc, or BEM-specific solvers such as BEMPP.

Qualification requirements

Appointment as postdoc requires academic a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computational Physics, or similar.
