The primary purpose of this role is to provide high quality anatomy teaching and contribute to the planning, design and development of learning outcomes and resources for the 5-year BMBS Medicine, 4-year Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) and BSc (Hons) Medical Physiology and Therapeutics (MPT) programmes. You will develop new concepts and develop and win support for teaching development proposals. You will have an excellent knowledge of clinically relevant gross anatomy.
You will join a dedicated team of anatomy educators in the School of Medicine and contribute to teaching and assessments for the above programmes. You will regularly facilitate anatomy practical classes using a mixture of cadaveric prosections, models and 3D digital resources. You will convene modules, supervise undergraduate projects, act as a personal tutor and mark assessments. You will make a significant contribution to your academic unit/platform via leadership and/or administrative management and/or co-ordination of specific initiatives.
You will have a PhD in human anatomy or a related subject area, or equivalent in professional qualifications and experience.
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using high level skills and a range of media. You will be able to devise, advise on and manage learning and research programmes; use a range of delivery techniques and technologies to inspire and engage students; have high level analytical capability to facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation and creativity; skills in counselling, pastoral care and motivating students; and be able to manage resources and an understanding of management processes.
You will have extensive experience of teaching clinically relevant human gross anatomy to undergraduate medical students using cadaveric specimens; prior experience of using innovative digital technologies to support and enhance student learning e.g. interactive 3D anatomy apps; experience and achievement in anatomy education, reflected in growing and consistent national reputation; experience and demonstrated success in delivering teaching within an agreed quality framework.
