Department of Computer Science, Aalborg University is hiring an Assistant professor or Assistant professor Tenure Track starting November 1, 2026. The Assistant professor position is a 3-year fixed term full-time position, and The tenure track position, is a structured career pathway with clearly defined criteria for progression to a permanent position upon successful evaluation.
The position will be affiliated with the section Distributed, Embedded and Intelligent Systems. The position is open to applicants to be affiliated with one of the research groups: Automated System Verification and Validation; Distributed Sustainable Software and Systems; Formal Methods for Security and Privacy; Foundations for Interacting and Computing Systems; Probabilistic and Symbolic AI.
Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

As tenure track assistant professor your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching. You will teach and supervise students at bachelor’s and master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues.
You will report to the Head of Department, Peter Axel Nielsen.
We are looking for applicants with independent research-related qualifications at a high international level and a PhD degree in computer science or a related field, and you show potential to become one of the best in the academic field of the position. You are a clear communicator with potential of becoming a skilled group leader, and you can, under guidance, organize and conduct supervision and teaching at bachelor’s and master’s degree level. Completed pedagogical courses in supervision or similar will be a plus, as will experience with external research collaborations. We also draw attention to a stay or employment at one or more internationally recognised research institutions.

We expect you to be able to write and speak English at the academic level.
Tenure track positions are usually aimed at candidates who have not previously held an assistant professor position.
