EPFL - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne

Lausanne, Switzerland

Mission

To strengthen our research program on laser-based methods to tailor material properties, we are looking for a post-doc to investigate advanced wavefront shaping methods based on adaptive optics applied to the context of nonlinear laser-matter interaction.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Define relevant research and experimental plans, sustained with theoretical considerations and knowledge of the relevant literature;
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data;
  • Report and disseminate the research outcome in journal publications and at international conferences;
  • Interact and collaborate with other lab members as well as with industrial partners;
  • Occasionally supervise undergraduate students (bachelor or master levels);
  • Contribute to the laboratory operations through shared duties.

Profile

  • You recently obtained a PhD in optics, applied physics or related fields with a strong knowledge of optics;
  • You have experience in adaptive optics as well as hands-on experience with optical setups involving lasers;
  • You have a keen interest in research in the field of nonlinear optics, ultrafast lasers and/or laser-matter interaction;
  • You are independent, creative, solution-oriented, flexible and a team-player.
