As an Senior Scientist, you will contribute the Bio Technology Solutions (BTS) Vaccine formulation team. This team is focused on developing and tranferring new vaccine formulations such as adjuvant formulations and stabilizers. Formulation Science is about product composition, meaning that in our case excipients are screened to improve vaccine performance. As an Senior process Scientist, you will act as the project lead for one or more projects and project teams. The projects entail new product development projects, the improvement of existing products, solving problems in the production of existing products, according to instructions and general guidelines, in a safe and (GLP/GMP) compliant manner and at own discretion and initiative.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Ability to set and manage expectations, performance goals, time commitments, resources and risks in a manner that demonstrates objectives that are measurable and achievable.
  • Initiates and maintains up-to-date MS project files and Connectivity updates. When applicable, NPC and/or site-to-site transfer methodology is followed.
  • Discusses assignments with the project team(s). Designs and plans experiments based on general guidelines, instructions, and project timelines.
  • Ability to motivate a (multidisciplinary) team to work together towards a common goal and to achieve co-operation within the team and stakeholders.
  • Is present/engaged in the operational area.
  • Identifies deviations, assesses project impact, investigates the root cause, and makes proposals for improvements.
  • Interprets experimental results and decides upon path forward with the project team.
  • Writes Statements and Assessments, Subject Protocols/Memos/Reports, and Regulatory documents.
  • Ensures that operations are performed under GxP (e.g., assistance with pilot- and consistency batch productions, small scale batches for animal studies, and seed productions).
  • Makes proposals for the introduction of new methods and techniques.
  • May act as a subject matter expert in one or more (technical) fields.
  • Keeps track of developments and techniques within the discipline.
  • Uses literature to support product/process development.

Qualifications

  • BSc, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Process Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in scaling up chemical production processes.
  • Familiarity and expertise in laboratory operations.
  • Experience working under GxP guidelines and familiarity with MPS methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and transfer methodologies.
