The Proteomics Core offers advanced, mass spectrometry–based technologies for comprehensive proteome and protein analysis. The core supports projects including, but not limited to large-scale and comprehensive proteome profiling including mapping of protein modifications to targeted quantification, protein interaction mapping, low-input and chemical proteomics. Throughout the process—from sample preparation to data analysis and interpretation—we provide guidance and expertise to ensure clear, actionable biological insights for all users. The Proteomics Core is currently seeking a new Head and welcomes applications from proteomics experts around the globe.

Your role

  • Safeguard the position of the Proteomics Core as a world-leading facility and further strengthen this position by securing competitive funding;
  • Ensure that the Proteomics Core activities are aligned with institutional policies and objectives;
  • Take the lead in project intake and outtake meetings and manage day-to-day operations to ensure high-quality service delivery;
  • Steer the team, take on all personnel-related matters, and motivate the team to stay at the forefront of technologies and applications;
  • Design and continuously update a future-proof strategic roadmap that includes timely technology implementations;
  • Identify and actively manage relevant development activities (i.e. method/application development);
  • Maintain (and expand) strategic alliances with other leading international proteomics cores.

Profile

  • PhD in life sciences, such as (bio)chemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline;
  • Extensive experience in proteomics, either in a core facility environment or through academic/industrial research;
  • Proven leadership and team management skills or willingness to train and develop these skills;
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative proteome and protein analysis using advanced LC-MS/MS techniques, including analysis of post-translational modifications;
  • High familiarity with software tools for proteomics data analysis and data management;
  • A background in working with clinically relevant samples (e.g. FFPE, plasma, CSF, etc.) and/or advanced workflows (e.g. low-input and spatial proteomics) is a plus;
  • Strong service-oriented mindset and proven ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment;
  • Experience in conducting research collaboratively or managing core facilities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to interact professionally with the broad life science community;
  • Willingness to contribute to grant proposals and to represent the core at scientific meetings and conferences.
