From GBP 31,387 up to GBP 46,485 per year

We have an opportunity for a Research Associate/Fellow to join our research team to assist with the delivery of objectives of our project that aims to develop non-invasive diagnostic tests to assess fetal health in the pregnant mare. The postholder will be responsible for the day to day running of the project including DNA and RNA isolation, nucleic acid sequencing, PCR and running ELISAs. Additional responsibilities will include receiving and processing samples from established collaborators, data analysis/bioinformatics, and reporting of results back to the research team.

The project would suit someone with curiosity and enthusiasm for undertaking high quality research and addressing new challenges in veterinary science and reproductive biology. We are looking for someone with relevant laboratory experience who is highly motivated, well-organised and is comfortable working both independently and in a team.

Applications from candidates with a PhD, or close to completion, are encouraged and as a minimum, all candidates should have a Masters degree, or equivalent, in molecular or reproductive biology. Work experience in a laboratory using molecular techniques (nucleic acid isolation, sequencing) would be highly beneficial, and candidates should be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills. Experience working with animal samples is desirable.
