Postdoctoral Position in Mosquito Population Genomics

Postdoctoral Position in Mosquito Population Genomics

Institut Pasteur

Paris, France

Description

Our research group applies genomic technologies to study populations of Aedes mosquitoes and their role in the transmission of emerging arboviruses such as dengue and Zika viruses. Specific interests of our group include the genetic architecture of arbovirus susceptibility, the genomic basis of adaptation to environmental changes, and the contribution of transposable elements to adaptation and mosquito-virus interactions. We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile postdoctoral researcher to apply existing bioinformatic methods and develop new pipelines to analyze and interpret high-throughput sequencing data. In addition to performing bioinformatic analyses of ongoing projects, the successful candidate will have considerable freedom to develop related research projects according to their interests.

Qualifications

  • PhD (obtained or near completion) in evolutionary biology, population genetics, genomics, or bioinformatics;
  • Strong background in population genetics and evolutionary biology;
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics with at least one scripting language (R, python, bash) and expertise in high-throughput sequencing (ideally, including long-read sequencing) data analysis and statistical skills;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment;
  • Wet lab experience (depending on the work to be developed).
