Your future responsibilities
As part of the European Chips Act, Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is driving innovation in quantum and semiconductor technologies through its Quantum Pilot Lines.
We are looking for a motivated researcher working in a project on the development of ion-trap chips (ITCs) at SAL. You will become part of a highly motivated, international team committed to realizing the building blocks of next generation quantum technology. Your work will be embedded in an international collaborative network and, specifically, target fabrication and application of ion-trap-chips for real use-cases.
Your future responsibilities include:
- Support ITC development and fabrication across different research units and cleanroom facilities in cleanroom facilities utilizing 200 mm wafer-level technology.
- Support testing of developed ITC devices.
- Participate in the design, fabrication and technological advancement of ion trap chips.
- Communicate and report research findings to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- Communicate and align with industry and academic partners.
- Contribution to project management.
- Occasionally R&D project acquisition.
Your profile
- PhD (MSc*) in physics, quantum technology, electronics engineering or similar.
- Background in trapped-ion quantum technology.
- Some experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience in industrial environment is an asset.
- Proficiency in English. German or willingness to learn is an asset.
- Motivated team player with good communication skills.
- Willingness to relocate to Austria/Villach.
- Willingness to travel.
*For this position, candidates with a PhD will join us as Scientist. We also welcome applications from candidates holding a Master’s degree and relevant work experience (Junior Level) who are motivated to pursue research in this field.
