In this role, you will participate in scientific activities and initiatives in support of global Laboratory Operations. You will perform complex trouble-shooting and problem-solving, supporting Lab Operations to ensure smooth transition of assays into production. You will participate in developing/identifying new strategies, techniques and instrumentation for the development of new ventures in the scientific area of expertise for Central Laboratory Services global laboratory operations.
In more details, you will…
- Develop and validate complex conventional and spectral cytometry assays;
- Perform complex troubleshooting and assist in leading initiatives to solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation;
- Apply and interpret scientific theories, concepts, techniques and regulatory requirements in clinical studies and accept leadership role in developing scientific approaches;
- Provide consultation to scientific and operational staff on technical issues;
- Respond to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties;
- Assist with regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical assays to ensure effective scientific performance;
- Provide technical training for scientific and operational staff;
- Provide technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management) as requested;
- Contribute to long-term planning and technical policies of the department;
- Assist in managing scientific vendor relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities;
- Participate in client visits;
- Regularly read literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge;
- Give presentations to clients and professional groups;
- When required, attend meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to promote CLS’s capabilities within dedicated scientific area.
What we’re looking for
Staff Scientist - Spectral Cytometry Experts are the most successful at Labcorp with:
- Ph.D. in scientific area of expertise (immunology and/or cancer biology preferred);
- At least 10 years of experience within scientific area of expertise: mandatory expert knowledge of spectral cytometry instrumentation (CYTEK Aurora platform preferred), with proven track record of method development, validation and performance monitoring. Experience in working and closely collaborating with instrument manufacturers preferred;
- Previous experience in working in or collaborating with drug development and pharmaceutical companies’ mandatory;
- Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports;
- Experience performing scientific presentations and preparing scientific publications;
- Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software, Microsoft applications and laboratory statistics;
- Effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff, peers and clients;
- Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data;
- Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution;
- Fluent in English, French is considered as a plus.
