Toulouse, France

What You’ll Do:

  • Independently preparing and running bench-scale bioreactors and bioreactor-related equipment (controllers, pumps, autoclaves, etc.) including building and autoclaving bioreactor parts and assemblies as well as assisting with bench-scale bioreactor operations (daily sampling and analytics, cleaning and maintenance, inoculation activities, run preparation, and troubleshooting).
  • Performing mammalian cell culture work in an aseptic hood such as cell passaging and cell banking.
  • Independently design, execute, and analyse statistically designed experiments (DOE) with minimal support.
  • Responsible for equipment calibrations and Media preparations in the Lab.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on bioreactor control systems, related software, and analytical equipment. Expertise should also include maintaining and troubleshooting relevant instruments.
  • Author SOPs, reports, and slides to summarize, and interpret experiment results.
  • Communicate experimental plans and data to cross-functional teams and clients
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop, order, and troubleshoot equipment prototypes.
  • Train and mentor junior staff and interns.
  • Perform regular bench-scale bioreactor operations tasks that include, but not limited to, daily sampling and analytics, inoculation and run preparation.
  • Potential for weekend work and being on-call for critical bioreactor runs.

Your profile:

  • Master’s in engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D. in Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field.
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written English is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail, able to stay organized and relaxed in complex situations while keeping track of multiple tasks and data.
  • Strong writing skills; comfortable communicating with project managers and subject matter experts about processes and technologies.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and statistical software (JMP, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Experience with aseptic technique and small-scale cell culture.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally respond in person to alarms during off-hours.

Pluses:

  • Experience in other functional areas (purification and analytical sciences) and making cross-functional connections in project work is also preferred.
  • Experience with upstream bioprocessing equipment, especially perfusion technology, as well as analytical or downstream purification equipment.
  • Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
  • Experience analyzing data in tools such as JMP, R, or Python.
  • General understanding of cell biology, fluid dynamics, and biotransport.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and supervising team members.
