Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Genomics

VIB

Leuven, Belgium

What you will do

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will:

  • Analyse multiomic long-read and single-cell data from patient samples to develop novel biological insights;
  • Contribute to recently funded projects on genomically complex sarcomas and somatic mosaicism with opportunities to develop your own research;
  • Develop and apply computational tools and workflows for integrating multimodal datasets;
  • Collaborate effectively across disciplines—working with clinicians, biologists, and data scientists;
  • Present your work at international conferences and publish in high-visibility journals.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated computational biologist with a passion for cancer genomics and a drive to tackle complex biological questions.

Essential:

  • PhD (or studying towards a PhD) in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, statistics, physics, or a related quantitative field;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse large-scale sequencing data using R, Python or equivalent;
  • A self-motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative international environment;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Nice to have:
