We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Scientist to join dsm-firmenich's Data Science & AI unit. You will join a team which is at the forefront of developing and deploying -omics analyses workflows and modeling & AI algorithms to innovate in health, nutrition and beauty in dsm-firmenich.

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain bioinformatics algorithms and workflows on cloud infrastructure;
  • Utilize Python and/or R and its most common libraries to build and optimize omics analysis methods;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate scientific requirements into scalable and user-friendly tools;
  • Perform trainings and demonstrations of tools we develop for the scientific community;
  • Report and publish results internally and also in scientific journals;
  • Apply modern tools such as git, AWS, Docker, relational data models, cloud-native computing and API endpoints in your daily work.

You bring

  • Ph.D. or similar experience (4 years) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Experience in omics data analysis and workflow development (CWL/Nextflow);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scientific programming languages (Python/R) and its data science libraries;
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, containerization and databases;
  • Clear interest in computational and biotechnological developments in microbial and microbiome omics domain;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts and actionable insights.
