Junior Scientist - Digital ASIC/MPSoC Circuit Designer for Solid-state Quantum System on Chip

Your future responsibilities
As part of the DireQT project, we're developing an integrated platform for quantum information processing. We're looking for a motivated digital ASIC/MPSoC designer to help shape the next generation of quantum system-on-chip solutions.
As a junior Scientist at SAL your focus will lay on scientific work and methods. In Addition you will develop strong R&D skills.

- Enable innovative solutions based on the most advanced MP-SoC platforms;
- Designing digital circuits using FPGA technology and SoC (e.g.Zynq), including selecting the appropriate FPGA, designing the circuit architecture and coding the logic in a hardware description language (HDL) such as System Verilog, Verilog or VHDL;
- Verifying the design and functionality of the digital circuits using simulation tools and perform tests on a physical FPGA board;
- Creating and maintaining documentation for the FPGA design, including schematics, test plans and user manuals;
- HDL coding for ASIC integration;
- Developing and partitioning digital system architecture;
- Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other SW/HW developers to deliver integrated systems rapidly;
- Support in project acquisition, funding proposals, and project management under guidance;
- Conducts high-quality research with scientific rigor and output (e.g. publications, patents, conference presentations), contributing to project success and customer satisfaction;
- Engages in scientific networking and visibility activities to strengthen SAL’s reputation and research excellence.
Your profile
- Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering;
- Excellent programming skills in scripting languages such as Python, Perl and Tcl, as well as in programming languages such as C/C++ and Java;
- Understanding of device trees and Linux kernel drivers;
- Ability to integrate a wide range of IP cores;
- Knowledge of how to work with SoCs to leverage both the FPGA fabric and the processing system;
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a research-oriented approach. Well organized and enjoys working in a dynamic and multicultural team;
- Excellent professional communication skills in English;
- Knowledge of the German language is an advantage;
- Willingness to relocate to Villach, Austria.
