Precision Medicine Biomarker Senior Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with expertise in immunology research and biomarker data analysis to join our Translational Science team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and leading biomarker strategies, enabling stratified medicine/diagnostic approaches, and advancing the probability of successful drug development and approval.

Main responsibilities

Biomarker Strategy & Implementation

  • Drive precision medicine strategies while leveraging assay technology expertise, technical knowledge, disease understanding, and patient needs;
  • Participate in the selection, development, and validation of predictive, pharmacodynamic, and safety biomarkers, including biomarkers supporting treatment response, disease understanding and Mode-of Action;
  • Translate biomarker context of use (COU) into analytical requirements and ensure fit-for-purpose assay and vendor selection;
  • Drive the implementation of biomarker assays and sample analysis, collaborating with internal and external teams, including omics approaches;
  • Act as an interactor between biomarker and translational scientists, ensuring alignment of biomarker strategies with translational research objectives;
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs and Commercial teams to ensure biomarker insights support clinical positioning and market access strategies;
  • Contribute to reverse translation efforts, using clinical data to inform preclinical research and future biomarker development.

Biomarker Data Analysis & Interpretation

  • Support Biomarker Data Science team to ensure data is analysed in line with COU, assay capabilities and clinical development strategy;
  • Contribute to the FAIRification of biomarker data and their metadata;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate biomarker findings into drug discovery and development decisions, including patient selection and dose optimization;
  • Act as a liaison between scientific teams and data scientists during statistical analysis plan (SAP) development, ensuring research questions and objectives are accurately reflected;
  • Gather and clarify requirements from scientists and stakeholders for data scientists and statisticians;
  • Interpret analysis results provided by statisticians or data scientists and partner to summarization of key findings;
  • Prepare clear, scientifically robust reports and presentations of insights and implications of results to scientific internal stakeholders, regulatory submissions, and external publications.

Innovation & Framework

  • Support the build and maintenance of data storage solutions for translational activities and ensure compliance with FAIR data principles;
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, analytical methods, and regulatory guidance in biomarker research;
  • Contribute to the implementation of novel data analysis and biomarker identification approaches, including machine learning and AI-driven strategies for biomarker discovery;
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve data quality, supporting operational excellence.

Professional experience/expertise

  • PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, with knowledge of Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Biostatistics (or equivalent experience);
  • Strong understanding of clinical or research study design principles;
  • Experience collaborating with statisticians and data scientists;
  • Proven ability to interpret statistical outputs of biomarker data and to clearly communicate findings;
  • At least 3 years of relevant research/industry experience in biomarker strategy and data analysis;
  • Proven track record in innovative science, publications, and impact on development and decision making;
  • Experience in disease areas aligned to argenx’s immunology-focused ambitions;
  • Proficiency in biomarker data and statistical analysis, including omics;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with biomarker data analysis and regulatory requirements (GCP/GCLP).
