Analytical Scientist - Metabolomics/Glycomics

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Analytical Chemist to drive the development and execution of cutting-edge R&D initiatives across multiple high-impact projects that focus on metabolomics and/or sugar chemistry. You will lead and contribute to diverse research efforts with your passion for science, as well as your expertise in developing LC-MS methods, metabolomics workflows and data analysis.

Your key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of analytics activities for R&D projects in metabolomics and glycomics;
  • Execute complete analytical studies, including planning, sample preparation, LC-MS analysis, data processing, statistical evaluation, and documentation;
  • Optimize and advance the metabolomics pipeline and develop, validate, and troubleshoot LC-MS analytical methods;
  • Prepare and review technical documentation such as method procedures, validation protocols, and transfer reports using internal systems;
  • Contribute to scientific communication by writing publications, presenting at conferences, and sharing findings with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Drive innovation through literature integration, cross-site collaboration, mentoring junior staff, and supporting digitization and automation in the laboratory.

You bring

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field, some postgraduate experience is a plus, or an MSc or BSc degree with 8+ years’ experience in metabolomics/glycomis, knowledge in bioinformatics is a plus;
  • Experience in biological mass spectrometry and metabolomics, including but not limited to the following key areas: quantitative targeted/multi-targeted LC-MS analyses of endogenous small molecules, i.e., metabolites, lipids, glycans; metabolic profiling of samples originating from complex biological matrices, such as cell culture, biofluids, organ tissues and feed;
  • Demonstrated diligence documenting experiments, data and results in electronic lab journal or laboratory information management systems in English, German is a plus;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative, matrix environment, to participate and build partnerships across functional teams. You are curious, readily speak up and share results within and beyond project teams, acting as inspirational role model to others;
  • Team-focused and goal-oriented work ethic combined with critical and creative problem-solving skills with independent thinking.
