The team of Marina Mapelli at the European Institute of Oncology IEO of Milano (Italy) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to investigate mechanisms of Wnt-signaling in stem cell asymmetric divisions in the intestinal crypts, and their implication in cancer development.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in structural biology, with particular interest in Cryo-Electron Microscopy techniques and good experience in biochemistry of large macromolecular assemblies. Candidates with skills in proteomics, genomics or organoid biology are also encouraged to apply. Degree in STEM disciplines (e.g., Biotechnology, Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent Life Science disciplines). PhD in relevant scientific/biomedical fields (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Systems Biology, Molecular Oncology, Pharmacology, Engineering, etc.).
The project will explore fundamental questions on mechanisms of cell proliferation, stem cell self-renewal, and fate decision. To gain molecular information, research in our lab integrates integrative structural biology with proteomics, genomics and cell biology of intestinal cells.
