Job description

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will join our Research Council of Finland project focusing on the use of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing in large-scale omics data analysis. Your work will focus on method development and their application to biomedical research questions.

Key responsibilities include:

• analyzing and modeling large omics datasets
• developing and applying machine learning methods to biomedical questions
• keeping up with rapidly evolving methods in the field
• collaborating with biomedical researchers to assess the biological and medical significance of findings
• publishing research results in international scientific journals and presenting at conferences
• participating in national and international collaboration networks

Who we are looking for

We expect you to be motivated and ready to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and biomedicine.

We require you to have:

• a doctoral degree in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, or another relevant field
• experience in analyzing large biological datasets (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics, or proteomics)
• programming skills (e.g. R, Python)
• interest in high-performance computing and algorithm optimization (e.g. GPU computing)
• ability to work both independently and in collaboration within a multidisciplinary research environment
• initiative and self-direction
• excellent spoken and written English

We consider as a plus:

• experience in analyzing proteomics or mass spectrometry data
• experience in machine learning, deep learning, or method development in bioinformatics
• publications or other evidence of research in artificial intelligence or bioinformatics
