Subject Area

The subject area for the position is wildlife ecology, with a focus on management in Nordic forest ecosystems. It includes the ecology of wildlife populations and their interactions with people, landscapes, and climate.

Duties

The holder of the position is responsible for developing research in the subject area wildlife ecology together with researchers within the faculty and other parts of SLU. The holder shall also contribute to the pedagogic development in the subject area. This means that the employee shall within the subject area for the position:

  • act in accordance with SLU’s vision, goals, and core values;
  • contribute to the strategic development of the department, the faculty and SLU;
  • develop and lead an internationally successful environment for research;
  • conduct research based on theoretical and empirical studies with practical applications in wildlife management;
  • publish scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals;
  • apply for external research funding in competition at national and international levels;
  • supervise doctoral students and mentor postdoctoral researchers;
  • lead, develop and participate in teaching and supervision at basic and advanced levels, including doctoral level;
  • collaborate with researchers within the department, faculty and SLU, as well as nationally and internationally;
  • engage with and further develop networks with society at regional, national, and international levels;
  • disseminate research findings;
  • fulfil administrative tasks within the department, the faculty and the university, including responsibility for budget and staff.

Qualifications

The applicant must:

  • have completed a doctoral degree in a subject area relevant for the position;
  • be scientifically skilled within the subject area for this position;
  • be pedagogically skilled;
  • have demonstrated leadership skills;
  • have good knowledge of English.
