Research Associate in High Resolution Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research on magnon spectroscopy and hybrid quasi-particle detection in magnetic materials. The successful candidate will be involved in various aspects of experimental investigation, and data analysis. This role offers opportunities to work with advanced instrumentation, develop novel methodologies, and collaborate with leading national and international research groups.

Role

As a member of the SuperSTEM team, you will take on a shared leadership role in exploring the experimental development on the development of high-resolution Electron Energy-Loss Spectroscopy for the detection of magnetic quasiparticles at the nano- and atomic-scale. This position provides the opportunity to work hands-on with state-of-the-art electron microscopy equipment at the facility and to engage directly with collaborators’ theory groups. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage with the facility’s user program activities, fostering a broad network of collaborations and supporting diverse research initiatives and projects.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

You will have:

  • A PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or related subject;
  • Experience in the operation of transmission electron microscopes and in Electron Energy-Loss Spectroscopy.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data interpretation, simulations, and/ormodelling.
  • A track record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent communications skills.
