The role:

This is a great opportunity for somebody with supervisory experience in Cell Culture Development, ideally with a focus on Upstream. As a Group Leader within our Cell Culture Development division you will be responsible for a team of between 6-8 with the opportunity to work on some key department strategic projects. The suitable candidate will also be responsible quality, planning, training and team development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage team members of the department who may be performing more diverse activities;
  • Maintenance of resource schedule for team;
  • Performance management for direct reports;
  • Accountable for ensuring that direct reports are appropriately trained;
  • Accountable for the execution and delivery of Customer projects as required;
  • Encourage the professional and personal development of direct reports;
  • Contribute to the day-to-day running of the department;
  • Deliver an element of departmental strategy;
  • Lead problem-solving / lessons learned activities;
  • Accountable for Customer proposals.

Key requirements:

  • BSc in a relevant scientific/technical field;
  • Strong planning skills and the ability to run productive meetings;
  • People management skills and the ability to motivate others;
  • Proven experience of the application of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques such as 6S, visual management, mistake proofing and the 8 wastes; Desired/Operational Excellence;
  • Ability to facilitate improvement using RCA, Kaizen workshops and Kata coaching;
  • Previous experience in upstream cell culture techniques such as process transfer & scale-up, and cell line construction.
