The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the following qualification criteria:

  • Required: a doctorate in physics, chemistry or related field;
  • Required: significant publications record in the field of development of computational methods for quantum chemistry calculations;
  • Required: very good knowledge of density functional theory;
  • Required: skills and experience in programming and numerical methods;
  • Required: good English (both spoken and written);
  • Preferred: knowledge of many body perturbation theory and the coupled cluster method;
  • Teamwork ability and high motivation for research work.

Project leader: dr Szymon Śmiga
Project title: "Quantum chemistry under spatial confinement"

The employee will be responsible for the theoretical development within the Kohn-Sham DFT formalism, with a particular focus on designing new exchange-correlation functionals capable of accurately predicting properties of systems in quasi-one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) regimes.

The responsibilities will also include implementing the developed methodologies into modern computational chemistry packages such as PySCF and PSI4, with attention to performance, clarity, and extensibility of the code.
