This position is an integral part of a collaborative project led by the Data Systems group at Tartu University. Our project aims to democratize the data science process, designed to meet the specific requirements of industries involved in various technologies. As part of this role, you will be focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative approaches for responsible AI. The research fellow will engage in increasingly independent research within a highly collaborative environment, leading to the preparation and publication of research outcomes in top conferences and journals.
Duties and responsibilities
- High-quality research work in innovative methods of Responsible AI under the guidance of the research group leader;
- Active participation in the research project as a team member;
- Writing and submitting scientific papers to high-impact journals in the field;
- Presenting research findings at high-level conferences in the field;
- Preparing new research projects under the guidance of more experienced colleagues;
- Participating in teaching activities, including supervision of MSc and PhD students.
Required qualifications
- A PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.
Required experience
- Track record of publishing papers in high-quality journals and conferences;
- Very good programming skills in Python and experience with using machine learning frameworks;
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams;
- Experience in supervising MSc and PhD students is recommended.
Required language skills
Excellent command of English. Estonian is an advantage. According to the Language Act, academic staff with foreign citizenship working in Estonia must have acquired at least B1-level Estonian language skills after five years of work. This requirement will be added to the contract. The Centre for Professional Development offers foreigners and their family members the opportunity to participate in Estonian language courses.
