In this role, you will participate in scientific activities and initiatives in support of global Laboratory Operations. You will perform complex trouble-shooting and problem-solving, supporting Lab Operations to ensure smooth transition of assays into production. You will participate in developing/identifying new strategies, techniques and instrumentation for the development of new ventures in the scientific area of expertise for Central Laboratory Services global Laboratory Operations.

In more details, you will…

  • Perform complex troubleshooting and assist in leading initiatives to solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation;
  • Apply and interpret scientific theories, concepts, techniques and regulatory requirements in clinical studies and accept leadership role in developing scientific approaches;
  • Provide consultation to scientific and operational staff on technical issues;
  • Respond to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties;
  • Assist with regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical assays to ensure effective scientific performance;
  • May provide technical training for operational staff;
  • Provide technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management) as requested;
  • Contribute to long-term planning and technical policies of the department;
  • Assist in managing scientific vendor relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities;
  • Participate in client visits;
  • Regularly read literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge;
  • Give presentations to clients and professional groups;
  • Attend meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to promote CLS’s capabilities within dedicated scientific area.

What we’re looking for

Staff Scientists are the most successful at Labcorp with:

  • Ph.D. in scientific area of expertise or Master’s degree with 5 years of flow cytometry equivalent experience;
  • Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports;
  • Proven track record of method development;
  • Experience performing scientific presentations and preparing scientific publications;
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software, Microsoft applications and laboratory statistics;
  • Good team player with effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff, peers and clients;
  • Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data;
  • Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution;
  • Fluency in English is required. Intermediate level in French is appreciated.
