Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Spatial Epidemiology

We wish to appoint a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow in Epidemiology/Statistics to join the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI. The postholder will identify precisely where and who is being left behind in the context of huge gains in child survival in sub-Saharan Africa cities, using Ghana as a case study. The postholder will apply advanced statistical approaches to pool child mortality data from diverse sources and estimate fine-scale geographic and socioeconomic inequalities in under-five mortality rates across all major cities in Ghana, and assess how these inequalities have changed over time.
Key attributes of the successful applicant include:
- PhD in epidemiology, statistics, quantitative demography, epidemiology or a closely related quantitative discipline.
- Experience of data management.
- Experience of undertaking Bayesian spatial statistical analyses.
- Experience working in international context or with international collaborators.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of prioritisation and organisation to manage a high volume of work and priorities effectively.
- Enthusiastic and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and actively contribute to a research team.
