Your profile

We expect a team-oriented, communicative and open-minded researcher with:

• Excellent doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) and a qualifying university degree (master or diploma) in the natural sciences with a focus on marine ecology, biological oceanography or a related field of ecology;
• Own scientific profile in plankton ecology (phyto-/zooplankton) as evidenced by (e.g.) international peer-reviewed publications, postdoctoral training, project proposals, or conference contributions;
• Strong background in general ecological frameworks and interest in ecological theory, to be detailed in the letter of motivation;
• Willingness and ability to contribute to the teaching of the Plankton Ecology Lab, previous teaching experience is an advantage;
• Fluent written and spoken English, German language skills are advantageous (a successful candidate should be able to teach in German within 2 years);
• Motivation to write own proposals for third party funding, previous experiences is an advantage.
