This full professor position serves as a bridge between Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science and is embedded in TU Graz' "Field of Expertise: Information, Communication and Computing". It is assigned to the Institute of Discrete Mathematics.
The future holder of this position is expected to cover the field of Computational Discrete Mathematics in research and also in teaching (at the bachelor, master, and Ph.D. level, in cooperation with the University of Graz). Teaching duties also include classes for other faculties and engineering.
We are looking for an internationally recognized researcher with a high scientific reputation, who is working in an area of Computational Discrete Mathematics with connections to Theoretical Computer Science. Our aim is to broaden the research profile of the Math Department at TU Graz. Topics include, but are not limited to, discrete and combinatorial optimization, graph algorithms, algorithmic graph theory, complexity theory, theory of algorithms, or constraint satisfaction theory.
Relocation of the future professor to the greater Graz area (main residence) is required.
Applicants should have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, to be able to effectively represent the field internationally, and they must also be willing to learn German if they do not already know the language.
