Post-Doctoral Fellow - CLINNOVA project
LIH - Luxembourg Institute of Health
Luxembourg
This postdoctoral position is to support the CLINNOVA project, a flagship precision medicine initiative across Luxembourg, France, Germany, and Switzerland. Clinnova focuses on immune-mediated diseases: inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), multiple sclerosis (MS), and rheumatoid diseases (RD). The project involves large prospective cohorts and the collection of multi-modal data, including clinical, imaging, and multi-omics (metagenomics, metabolomics, immune profiling) data. We are seeking a researcher to strengthen our efforts on metagenomics data analysis and its integration with other data modalities to identify biomarkers of disease progression and treatment response.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the bioinformatic analysis of metagenomics data from human stool samples at BioAI unit;
- Integrate metagenomic data with clinical, metabolomic, and immune profiling data using advanced techniques;
- Together with our bioinformatician, develop and maintain bioinformatics workflows for reproducible, large-scale data processing;
- Support the development of interpretable AI/ML models to stratify patients and predict treatment outcome;
- Contribute to data curation and quality control across international partners;
- Contribute to other multi-omics studies at LIH (e.g. MVD – Minimal Viable Dataset – initiative or/and MARKOPOLO project);
- Assess feasibility and contribure to developing disease maps potentially built for MVD and MARKOPOLO;
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Microbiology, or related field;
- Demonstrated expertise in metagenomics, especially in human microbiome data;
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools, scripting languages (R, Python), and HPC environments;
- Strong knowledge of multi-omics data integration and statistical analysis;
- Knowledge of gene pathway analysis and gene regulatory networks;
- Familiarity with microbiome-related biomarkers, network analysis, and/or systems biology;
- Strong track record of scientific publications and interdisciplinary collaboration;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and dissemination of findings;
- Understanding of ethical considerations, data privacy, and compliance in the context of bioinformatics research.
