Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials (LMSC) at EPFL Switzerland (headed by Prof. Anna Fontcuberta i Morral) is looking for a motivated engineer to work on the implementation of measures at the laboratory scale to reduce the carbon footprint resulting from the research activities of the group.
The candidate will be embedded in a highly dynamic and intellectually vibrant team, constantly exploring strategies to successfully merge academic excellence and sustainable practices. Being a well-established laboratory, LMSC is looking for an exceptional candidate willing to contribute to this mission.
As a Sustainability Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing what initiatives can be performed to increase sustainability of our research. You are expected to collaborate with group members currently promoting actions in the framework of LEAF certification.
Your role will involve assessing environmental impacts, reducing resource consumption and driving sustainable practices by optimizing management and operational processes. We expect the candidate to define protocols and actions aiming at maximizing materials and energy efficiencies, reduce waste and environment impact (direct and indirect) of the lab activities without compromising on the quality standards.
The candidate is expected to hold a master’s degree in environmental sciences and engineering or related fields. Participation to transdisciplinary environmental programmes is a plus.
