The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is looking for a Research Associate specialized in transgenic technology to join its Transgenic Mouse Production Unit. The facility supports FMI scientists by offering a wide range of transgenic technologies and employing cutting-edge methods for generating novel mouse strains and preserving existing ones.

In this role, you will

• Help to develop and implement existing and novel transgenesis methods.
• Cryopreserve and thaw mouse strains and manage related databases.
• Collaborate with the Transgenic Mouse Production team.
• Interact with, advise and train FMI scientists.

About you

• You hold a Master of Science, have completed research technician training or hold an equivalent qualification.
• You have hands-on experience working in a transgenic unit, preferably in an academic environment.
• You are used to handling mice and performing transgenic unit-related mouse work.
• You have basic knowledge of mouse embryo manipulation techniques such as microinjection, electroporation and embryo transfer.
• You have experience with bioinformatic tools and database management, along with a basic knowledge of DNA construct design.
• You have a proactive service-oriented attitude and can demonstrate experience in quality control for experiments.
• You work independently and have a strong work ethics, flexibility and a high level of motivation.
• You can communicate clearly and effectively in English.
