Postdoctoral Position Available to Study Human-specific Molecular Mechanisms of Neuronal Function

The Vanderhaeghen Lab at the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain & Disease Research is seeking a creative postdoctoral scientist to study the human-specific genetic mechanisms of development and function of cortical neurons.

Join us to undertake a highly interdisciplinary project focusing on a long-standing and fascinating question: « what makes our brain human ?

We combine cutting-edge approaches such as pluripotent stem cell models of human corticogenesis, human-mouse brain xenotransplantation, mouse transgenesis, in vivo mouse brain imaging, and ex vivo human brain recordings.

Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in developmental, cellular or molecular neurobiology, in link with human brain evolution and diseases.

  • PhD in neuroscience, genetics, evolutionary biology or related field.
  • Experience in transcriptomics or functional genomics is a plus.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, critically thinking, enjoying teamwork and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
