HZDR - Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf
Halle (Saale), Germany
Your tasks
- Conducting spatial distribution modelling of species and ecological/functional groups using biodiversity data provided by the Senckenberg Team;
- Collating and preparing environmental data on climate, soil properties, land use and management from online sources and also make use of remote sensing data, where appropriate, as predictors in the models;
- Assisting in and conducting the development of appropriate automated work-flows from the different biotic and abiotic data sources to the model;
- Develop species distribution models for different aspects of soil biodiversity developed with SMNG;
- Assist in implementing such models and workflows at CASUS (Task Area 3);
- Present and publish results at scientific conferences and high impact peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Your profile
- Completed university studies (PhD) in the field of Biostatistics, Ecology, Biology, Geo-ecology, Geography, Mathematics or related field;
- Relevant professional experience in the specified area;
- Sound knowledge in ecological niche modelling and modelling of spatial dynamics;
- Experience in Bayesian hierarchical modelling;
- Preferably knowledge in ‘joint species distribution modelling (jSDM)’ and ecological knowledge in at least one taxonomic group of soil;
- Presented and published results at scientific conferences and high impact peer-reviewed scientific journals;
- Advanced knowledge of scientific R and Git;
