This professorship is a supporting pillar in the Department of Physics, which is intended to cover research topics in theoretical physics in the field of Functional and Quantum Materials, the core area of the central joint research focus in the future Graz Center of Physics (GCP). It is expected that the future holder of the position will be actively involved in this center and will participate in the strategic goals of the faculty as well as in local, interdisciplinary cooperation, especially within the framework of TU Graz's Fields of Expertise. The professorship is also closely integrated into the faculty's research focus on Computational Science and Engineering. The ability to teach courses from the entire field of theoretical physics (bachelor, master, and PhD level) is expected.
We are looking for an internationally recognized researcher with a high scientific reputation, especially in the field of quantum mechanical description and modeling of materials. Possible research interests include (but are not limited to) light-matter interaction, time-dependent phenomena, many-body systems, collective behavior, quantum magnetism. Experience in the development and/or application of modern numerical methods is desirable.
Applicants should have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, to be able to effectively represent the field internationally, and they must also be willing to learn German if they do not already know the language.
