Postdoc Position in Silviculture

Postdoc Position in Silviculture

SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

Alnarp, Sweden

About the position

The experiments that will be evaluated in this post-doc project are located in the boreal part of Sweden. The postdoc will measure existing experiments, analyse data from these experiments and report in scientific journals. The research questions include development of silvicultural methods, selection of tree species and operational implementation of adaptations to climate change.

The candidate will belong to the silviculture unit at the department and work in a silviculture team with focus on forest management for multiuse purposes, addressing issues on climate change adaptation and high-versus low intensity forestry. We use empirical and process based modelling, with input data from the National Forest Inventory and long-term experiments.

Your profile

The candidate must have a PhD degree in silviculture and/or forest management or a very similar subject. The candidate must have proven experience in data analysis of tree and stand data, described in scientific publications and/or thesis.

Extra merits are previous experience in design of forest experiments for regeneration or stand management and experience of the tree species in northern Europe. The department sees a big value in candidates that are interested in teaching and supervision of undergraduate students. It is also an advantage if the candidate have a valid drivers license and proven experience in conducting field work.

As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
