Postdoc Position in the Research Group “Gravitational Quantum Physics”
Austrian Academy of Sciences
Vienna, Austria
The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Vienna (IQOQI-Vienna) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, is offering a POSTDOC POSITION (F/M/X) (full-time, 40h per week) in the research group “Gravitational Quantum Physics” led by Markus Aspelmeyer.
The position will be funded by the ERC Synergy Grant Q-Xtreme, a research project jointly with the University of Innsbruck and ETH Zurich to explore the extreme regime of macroscopic quantum superpositions of solids.
Your tasks:
- Theoretical research in the field of macroscopic quantum physics, in particular the study of noise and decoherence effects in levitated quantum optomechanical systems, as well as the design and theoretical analysis of new experimental methods and protocols to generate non-Gaussian quantum states of motion of levitated solids.
- Supporting the experimental members of the team with analytical and numerical tools for parameter estimations and noise analysis.
- Being involved in various administrative and academic tasks that involve the collaboration within the ERC Synergy network between Vienna, Innsbruck, and Zurich.
Your profile:
- Completed PhD studies in physics
- Previous (independent) research experience and a scientific track record reflecting your level of seniority
- Experience in supervising students and writing project proposals
