Postdoctoral Researcher in Pouch Cell Assembly of Gel-polymer Solid State Batteries
CIC energiGUNE
Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain
Job Description
CIC energiGUNE is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the development of next-generation lithium-ion batteries for high capacity and high voltage applications. The role will focus on advancing the gellified cell concept by studying how cell design and assembly processes impact performance. This research is part of the NEXTCELL project, involving collaboration with experts in the emerging field of solid-state batteries.
Main Responsibilities
- Study the impact of assembly parameters - such as electrode cutting, packaging, contact terminals, and sealing—on monolayer and multilayer pouch cells.
- Analyze the electrode/separator interface and its influence on performance after cycling.
- Assess how different design and processing factors, including pressure, calendering, and alignment, affect electrochemical performance.
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or related fields.
- Experience working with polymer electrolytes
- Knowledge and experience in the following topics will be taken into account:
- Pouch cell design and assembly
- Electrochemical characterization techniques: EIS, CV and galvanostatic charge and discharge
- Physico-chemical characterization of materials: AFM, Contact angle, FTIR, profilometer, SEM, etc
- A team player who can collaborate with colleagues in other groups, technological centers and industries.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
